On 6th July 2017, the final review meeting took place in Brussels. Already the day before, the consortium partners came together for a preparation meeting at KU Leuven premises, where the planned presentations, especially the presentations of the demonstrations and videos of WP5 and WP6, were rehearsed. After an in-depth wrap-up and follow-up of fundamental explanations of the work performed, the consortium partners enjoyed a last common dinner, where discussions and talks continued. On Thursday, the day has come and the final review meeting took place where partners were pleased to present the project work and results. After a warm welcome by the Project Officer and the Coordinator, each WP lead presented the work performed and the main achievements of the review period of their respective work package. A short question and answer session followed after each presentation. Finally, the technical lead summed up the project results and opened a final Q&A session. After the EC internal meeting, positive feedback and a preliminary evaluation was provided by the PO and the reviewers. All in all it was a great and engaging meeting with a lot of interesting presentations and discussions. After three years of hard work, the results of the ECOSSIAN project were presented in the final European Demonstration, which took place on 26th April 2017. A prototype system has been developed, which facilitates preventive functions like threat monitoring, early indicator and real threat detection, alerting, support of threat mitigation and disaster management. The ECOSSIAN technical architecture includes three levels of operations centres (at Critical Infrastructure operational national and European levels), along with interfaces to legacy systems (e.g. SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). The system has been validated in Critical Infrastructure scenarios of the sectors Finance, Transportation and Energy. The operational demonstration dedicated to the use-case protection of European Critical Infrastructures against cyber-attacks, was hosted in the Airbus Group premises in Elancourt near Paris/France. Approximately 80 participants attended the successful event, which was accompanied with interesting questions and discussions during an informal cocktail reception and technology exhibition after the demonstration.

WISER (Wide-Impact Cyber Security Risk Framework) is a European H2020 Innovation Action that puts cyber-risk management at the very heart of good business practice thanks to a novel model-based cyber-risk management framework able to assess and mitigate cyber risks in real time, which also incorporates socio-economic impacts of cyber risks. The WISER Framework is provided in terms of risk platform as a service (RPaaS) consisting of three modes of operation that collectively represent the WISER portfolio:

  • CyberWISER Light , already available for free on WISER website, targets SMEs and provides a user-friendly tool to increase awareness through self-assessment.
  • CyberWISER Essential (coming out in early 2017) targets SMEs and ICT systems in general, and provides a pre-packaged solution for real-time risk assessment.
  • CyberWISER Plus (coming out in early 2017) targets highly complex cyber systems such as critical infrastructures, and provides on-demand services for real-time and cross-system assessment of cyber risks.

On top of this, WISER is facilitating the uptake of a cyber-security culture through a series of additional free services such as:

  • CyberWISER SEIT, an online tool that calculates the estimation of economic and non-economic impacts of cyber attacks on an organisation. Impacts can be direct or indirect. Target audiences: SMEs and small IT teams in public administration.
  • Cartography of European Cyber Security Strategies: an interactive map that analyses national cyber security strategies in terms of capacity building, legal frameworks, public private partnerships and best practices for risk management with downloadable reports.
